SPECIAL MEETING May 28, 2019
ACKLEY CITY COUNCIL met in special session May 28, 2019 in the Ackley City Hall Council Chambers with Mayor Erik Graham presiding. The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. Council members present: Joe Wessels, Judy Crawford, Pat Daggs, and Pat Hurt. Absent: Robert Harms. Quorum present. Hurt moved, Daggs seconded, to approve the May 28, 2019 Agenda as listed. Ayes-4. Motion carried. Daggs moved, Crawford seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 19-14 Amending the Current Budget for the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2019. Roll call vote: Ayes-Crawford, Daggs, Hurt, Wessels; Absent-Harms. Motion carried. Crawford moved, Hurt seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 19-15 Setting Public Hearing to Consider Approving Ackley Industrial Park Subdivision Plat. Roll call vote: Ayes-Daggs, Hurt, Wessels, Crawford; Absent-Harms. Motion carried. Daggs moved, Wessels seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 19-16 Temporarily Closing Certain Streets for the 2019 Sauerkraut Days. Roll call vote: Ayes-Hurt, Wessels, Crawford, Daggs; Absent-Harms. Motion carried. Wessels moved, Crawford seconded, to set a public hearing for the first reading of proposed Ordinance No. 514 Amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ackley, Iowa by Amending Section 120.06 to Delete Requirement of Fencing for Beer Gardens for June 12, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Ayes-4. Motion carried. Wessels moved, Crawford seconded, to approve the Cigarette/Tobacco/Nicotine/Vapor Permit for Casey’s General Store #1921. Ayes-4. Motion carried. Crawford moved, Hurt seconded, to approve payment to Haila for $3,300.00 for engineering services for the buildings in the 700 block of Main Street. Ayes-4. Motion carried. Daggs moved, Wessels seconded, to approve payment to the Office of Auditor of State for $5,563.45 for the FY18 examination. Ayes-4. Motion carried. Crawford moved, Daggs seconded, to approve the following payments for development agreement rebates: Steve Scallon $3,144.17, Harley and Anita Harms $7,931.27, Jesus Flores $6,349.96, LaVelle Properties LLC $724.32, and Paul C. Williams $5,287.14. Ayes-4. Motion carried. Wessels moved, Crawford seconded, to approve payment to Kevin Meyer for $18,135.00 for a development agreement rebate. Ayes-4. Motion carried. Wessels moved, Daggs seconded, to table the approval of the purchase of a locator until the regular June council meeting. Ayes-4. Motion carried.
2 Daggs moved, Wessels seconded, to approve the Agreement and Contract for Fire Protection with Osceola Township. Ayes-4. Motion carried.
